Our commitment

Crocus Home Care is committed to making our website usable by everyone, including people with disabilities and older adults. Many of the people we serve rely on assistive technology, and we design with them in mind.

1. Our standard

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA, published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible to people with visual, hearing, motor, and cognitive disabilities. We follow them as part of our commitment under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and New York accessibility laws.

2. What we've done

  • Text and colors chosen for readable contrast.
  • A "Skip to main content" link and full keyboard navigation with visible focus outlines.
  • Descriptive text alternatives for images.
  • Clear headings and page structure that work with screen readers.
  • Form fields with visible labels and helpful instructions.
  • Pages that work on phones and tablets and when zoomed up to 200%.
  • Respect for your device's "reduce motion" setting.
  • An accessibility menu (the round button at the bottom right of every page) for larger text, high contrast, underlined links, extra text spacing, and a simpler font. Your choices are saved for your next visit.

3. Built-in browser tools

You can also use your browser and device settings to zoom (Ctrl and + on Windows, Command and + on Mac), use a screen reader, or change colors.

4. Known limitations

The optional Google map is provided by a third party, and we cannot fully control its accessibility. Our office address and a link to open it in Google Maps are always available as text.

5. Ongoing effort

Accessibility is an ongoing commitment. We review the site when we make changes and work to fix problems we find.
